2nd Persepolis Blog

This is the 2nd blog post for the book "PERSEPOLIS" and once again we have to answer some questions. In the next paragraphs are my response to the questions that were assigned.
Persepolis is organized and structured by the events that occurred in her childhood. Satrapi does not tell her story much by date but more from what she remember as she began to grow. By that I mean she does not date every single thing, she does not say when and where all the time. She only states the dates when they are important and people should know about. As she begins to grow a lot of things occur in her life and that's how she tells her story. Satrapi chose to write about the Iranian Revolution that occurred in the 1979. She told her side of the story, told how she felt about the decisions that were made. She wrote about her life as the incidents in Iran occurred, told her personal life experience and what they did during that time. The passage of that time is present now because we also have some problem of our own and we live through it. For example some countries have economy problems, now cause of that there's going to be some changes. While some people might like it, others will not. That incident will be similar to the story of Marji. Satrapi' drawings add to the narrative of the story because it helps us understand better. Helps us get a better understanding of what is happening, how the place looks, and how the characters reaction/feeling look. Face it with pictures we are able to understand a book better. Do not tell me you like books that have no drawings, you for once in your life would prefer books with drawing rather than lot and lot of words. The drawings not only help you understand, but it helps you remember better and more things. For example if you have a quiz and one of the question was who said "blank....blank.." There would be a better chance you'll remember by the drawings. In the book with only words it will complicated to remember because there was so many words. In the other hand the book with drawing, you'll just think of the pictures and might get your answer. Therefore drawings help a lot, especially your eye sight.
In the book "Persepolis"  there really is not a certain role the women play. The book does not tell what role they play, it does not mention nothing in that area.  But I would say the women's role would have to be listening to the rules they are giving, almost like they are being controlled. In the other hand there is one thing that women's have to do, which is to wear the veil that cover your entire body. It is a law for the women to wear that and if they do not they will receive a punishment. The women start wearing the veil once they are born. The men's clothing is nothing compared to the women clothing. There clothes cover them from head to toe and the men's clothing are pants and shirt. Basically what most people wear now days. The women have to also serve the men, but that's nothing new. There are various of women's in the book and they are similar by the rules, but different from there own lifestyle.  Marji, her mother, and her grandmother are all the same. They are all against that laws of Iran and think that the decisions that are being made are wrong. The teacher are opposite from them.  Even if they are told what to do and what to believe in. They still go with it. For the maids, do not have a choice. They have to follow the orders that are giving, even though they hate it. Every person has to do what they are told, some like it and others do not.
Persepolis is a book that is telling a story, but at the same time commenting on the importance of stories in our lives. In my opinion it's not just telling a story but also giving out a message about how our life is. She sort of explaining/commenting how our lifestyle is. Maybe she is trying to tell us that we are being controlled by the rules that are giving to us to follow. We ca not be our self because we have to follow orders and obey them. It's like we are robots or puppets. We are string to a fake life and we prefer to live like that. We do not want any problem and so we go through  living the life we are told to live. some people do not obey and so they are to be punish until they are willing to change. We people share the same experience, maybe not everyone, but at least we share it with an other person. For example we all go through family deaths, money, kids, love, work issue, etc... There has to be a least one person that had the same experience as you did. We all are similar in a way but also different from each other in a other way. For example in the book Marji states that her uncle Anoosh is her hero, even though he went to jail. Anoosh had some problems and so had to run away. Just like some of us now days, when we have a problem or we want to hide from something. We tend to run away. Anyways he was in deep problem that he could not stay with his parents and so he headed to the U.S.S.R. Where then he became a Doctorate in Marxism-Leninism and got married and had two children. That's a story that maybe one of you people can relate to. Maybe that's an other thing she was trying to tell us. That our lives are so similar, we just do not know it. Or maybe we do not want to admit it. Tell me you could not relate to Marji/Satrapi when you were reading her story .
